Its' good Rye for the money. Rye and pepper when sipped. No initial sweetness but nice good syrup finish that lingers. I got if for Manhattans but don't feel its best for that. I do like that it does not appear to be made from the same base stock rye from Lawrenceburg, IN that most other ryes use. I think Beam produces it themselves.

I never like Jim Beam rye when it was 80 proof. This 90 proof Jim beam rye is just a 90-proof offering of the old 80-proof "Yellow Label" rye.Same favor except rye is more pronounced due to higher proof .It seems to have Jim Beam White label taste with rye ending. it is not as good as Jim Beam White Label or even Old Overholt Rye from same producer. It is $26 dollars here.RI-1 Rye from Suntory Jim Beam brands is $26. Get it instead and have a decent rye. Also for Knob Creek Rye is good from same producer. It is about $6 more.

I rated this one a 3 star. The nose is light peppery spice with some earthy sweetness. Enters the palate with nice rye spice. The pepper from the nose is there along with old oak. A little cinnamon. Finishes with a slight maple syrup sweetness. The spice stays pleasantly on the tongue for an extended time. Made a passable Old Fashioned. A definite step above Beam's white label bourbon. Definitely not in the same league as Templeton or Bulleit Rye (which both boast a 95% mash bill vs. Beam's "barely legal " 51%). At 1/2 the price of the Templeton and Bulleit in my area, it is a great value. I will buy again.

Despite Beam's well-deserved reputation as mass-marketed rotgut, their rye offering is not bad at all. More than tolerable straight, and makes a fine old-fashioned.

This was the rye that jump started my love affair with Rye whiskies. It is light on flavor and spice. Gives you the idea what ryes bring to the table. Would give 3 stars for taste but such a good value for the low price it earned 4 stars. Makes great mixed drinks with Coke if you find Rye isnt your style

This costs 30 euros in Finland! Interesting. My first rye, and only one that is available here in this northern cold place. Bit too young for sipping, Dusty rye is little bit too harsh. Maybe great for mixing, and it's not too bad drinking neat.

This is well under 15.00 in Boston. An easy sipping rye with nice vanilla notes. Much more interesting than Beam white. Good stuff.

This is available for around $13 in California. Its a bit light and simple, but is still obviously rye. Works great in cocktails, and is even good enough to sip neat. A superb value, given the price.
