American Whiskey - Bourbon
McCormick Straight Bourbon Whiskey
This spirit has yet to face the slings and arrows of the rating agencies.
McCormick Distilling Company was founded in 1856 as Holladay Distillery by Ben Holladay. It continued to produce whiskey under different names and owners even through Prohibition (as medicine only!). The McCormick name was actually purchased from another distillery and persists through the modern era. It's still in the original location owned by partners Ed Pechar and Mike Griessar.
Let not the Missouri origin fool those who feel bourbon must come from Kentucky.. provided it is made in the United States (plus a few other rules including corn grain and new oak barrels), it can come any region of the country. McCormick appears to be a value brand, though as of February 2012 it is not acknowledged on the McCormick website. The last filing with the Tax and Trade Bureau shows in 2008.
