Irish Whiskey - Blended
Powers Signature Release Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey
This is a Tier 2 score in the Whiskey category. It means critics have highly recommended the spirit as a benchmark in the category.
Powers Signature Release Irish Whiskey was first launched in September, 2013. In the press release, they note that the whiskey is aged in ex-bourbon barrels with a blend of aged whiskey from Spanish Oloroso sherry casks (a very common practice in scotch whisky aging).
Powers whiskey is named for James Power, who founded his distillery in 1791 and whose son (John) followed in his footsteps. The label today is produced out of Midleton and owned by Pernod-Ricard of France.
