American Whiskey - Wheat
Reservoir Wheat Whiskey
This is a Tier 2 score in the Whiskey category. It means critics have highly recommended the spirit as a benchmark in the category.
Reservoir Wheat whiskey is made from a "heavy wheat" mashbill rather than the (as opposed to rye or corn associated with rye and bourbon respectively). The wheat creates a smooth and soft whiskey that Reservoir describes as "introductory."
Reservoir Distillery was founded by David Cuttino and Jay Carpenter in 2009 with the intention of making whiskey. Their Reservoir bourbon was first released in 2010 and kicked off the operation. Cuttino learned the craft working an unpaid internship at Tuthillltown Distillery in upstate New York. (From Richmond BizSense)
