Proof66 Notes

First launched in 1911, Seagram's whisky was named for Joseph Seagram who joined the Granite Mills and Waterloo Distillery in 1864.

Seagram's VO Canadian whisky is aged for 6 years (hence the VO or "very old" label, a styling more often associated with brandy). It was first made in 1913 and meant to commemorate marriage of Thomas Seagram, scion of Joseph.

Seagram VO is overpriced for its quality. . The nose is cream corn with hint of oak. The entry is smooth with palate of creamy corn with short bitter finish of spice and oak.It is just a mixer being too bland and unbalanced for a sipper

This stuff is atrocious. The single worst North American whiskey I've tasted to date. I bought an airline bottle of this, and still have most of it left because I could not even bring myself to down 50ml of Seagram's whiskey. What are the tasting notes? About what you'd expect from a $15 blended Canadian whiskey I guess, it tastes like someone tried to make a cheap american whiskey (say Beam White Label) more drinkable by cutting it with really cheap vodka (Wolfshmidt's maybe?). Turns out this makes it even less drinkable, at least to me. Not very smooth (though admittedly not as rough as Beam White Label) and with an off taste from the cheap neutral grain spirits that makes the cheap whiskey in the blend taste even worse (the adjectives "off", "chemical", and "dishwater" and "Budweiser of whiskies" present themselves to my mind). Objectively, I can see how this might not be a terrible mixer. Its light, and there is a bit of sweetness, so this might disappear in a cola more completely even than vodka or white rum. But I still feel there is no excuse for the stuff, Heaven Hill will sell you an actual straight bourbon that does not in fact taste like complete crap and charge you even less than this. One star. I'd give this half a star if I could.

Its not the greatest but not the worst either, I don't drink it straight or on the rocks but its a decent mixing whiskey. it does tend to turn a bit more bitter as it gets older after being opened.

I would give this a better rating however it gets bitter as time goes on. Its smooth when first opened so if you get it drink it fast or mix it.

A notch above the typical blended Canadian whiskey. Can be drank on the rocks or neat, but probably best used in mixed drinks.

Once hd this in the bar. So I can't say much. I wasn't too drunk so I remember something about taste :-) It was light and nicely balanced and corn tasty. Not too harsh, but not too memorable either.  Maybe better for mixing than sipping.
