Proof66 Notes

Springbank whiskies are made using a "lightly peated" barley, which may please some consumers who might be overwhelmed by the heavy peat aromas of, say, Laphroaig and other famous single malts. Springbank is also proud of their "unique two-and-half-times distillation" giving the whisky "a character all its own." Springbank 10yr is their youngest and entry level expression aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks.

Peat and ocean on the nose.Again on the palate, along with some fruit. Finish is long and warming, leaving you wanting more.

3.9/5, pretty solid for it's category but not enough to make me keep a bottle at my home bar... But better than glenlevit,s offering but perhaps a toss up between this and glenfiddich. Alchemists tasting notes are very good, mine was prolly a touch less peaty but spot about peppery, spicy with a short sweet note at the end. Certainly worth a try at the bar

Ive heard that Springbanks are a whisky masters whisky, so to speak. Having tried this one over exquisite Italian cuisine, I think I know what they mean. This one is pretty smoky, but it has so much under its "hood" that you can help but be enthralled trying to figure out how many flavors are dancing on your tongue. I highly recommend this as a whisky to drink if you e feeling creative and inspired. It is *not* for the unaccomplished palate, and I think my own will take some time to live up to this one.
