Proof66 Notes

Springbank whiskies are made using a "lightly peated" barley, which may please some consumers who might be overwhelmed by the heavy peat aromas of, say, Laphroaig and other famous single malts. Springbank is also proud of their "unique two-and-half-times distillation" giving the whisky "a character all its own." The 12yr is bottled at cask strength—unblended by water—and they suggest drinking with a "drop of water" (a bit more, we suggest, for Yankees) to release flavor notes of "milk chocolate" and "vanilla."

Springbank Distillers was founded in 1828 on the site of a former illicit still.
