Scotch - Single Malt
The Glenlivet 1983 Cellar Collection
This spirit has yet to face the slings and arrows of the rating agencies.
The Glenlivet Distillery (note the use of the indefinite article "the" allowed by court decree in 1884) is the top-selling single malt scotch in the world. It is often considered the classic Speyside, producing unpeated (that is, non-smoky) scotch whisky. The name translates as "valley of the smooth flowing one." They are proud of their mineral rich water from "Josie's well" and their tall copper stills, producing lighter vapors for smoother, more buoyant whisky.
The 1983 vintage, which was aged in French Oak, boasts a "peaches, honey, and anis" according to Michael Jackson at Whisky Magazine.
