The Virgil Kaine brand was founded by chefs David Szlam and Ryan Meany. The Robber Baron Rye Whiskey is named for the 19th century railroad tycoons. The whiskey itself is a base of rye whiskey in the Pennsylvania style, meaning in a high quantity of rye—in this case 96%—softened by a small amount of grain—in this case 6% malted barley.
