Very smooth, no bite. Seems a little lite in flavor. Overall very good, just other are better.

I went for the 4 stars for a few reasons. I am at 3.5 so will give the benefit of doubt upward. I have a hard time completely embracing this Bourbon. On the one hand the flavors are complex and include some exotic flavors; Brown sugar and cloves along with dark fruit and leather. On the other hand the flavors are not "bright" but all seem rather muddled. Not much in the Rye department either. The resemblance to Knob Creek is noticeable as others point out, but here again their is a syrupy, and oily mouth feel much greater than Knob Creek. As this is a true Pot stilled whiskey it may contain a higher amount of feints (the end distillates) which would provide more oiliness. Several rich Bourbons have a degree of this oily feel but for me this Willet Bourbon has it to distraction. So although I like the flavors and pleasant nose on this whiskey, the flaws I mentioned here keep me from recommending it without reservations.

As NeatPour noted below, it reminds one of Knob Creek, but has a refinement that sets it a notch above. Obviously the bottle is seriously badass and will hypnotize any house guest into asking for a taste, but beyond the aesthetics there is actually a very respectable product inside. I first tasted this in a flight, and had no idea what the bottle looked like, and it still impressed me with a very balanced classic bourbon flavor palette. You get the usual suspects, toasted oak and caramel, but there's an additional characteristic of the tastiest Irish Whiskys, which is a surprising taste of mellow copper (no doubt a result of the pot still manufacturing). Since bourbon is so highly regulated and isn't legally allowed to contain anything beyond grain and water, it is always valuable to discover a product that brings a new flavor to the bourbon catalog. Tasty, classy, and a good value for the price.

It's like the halfway point between Knob Creek and Evan Williams Vintage. It's right up my alley. Rich, spicy, and sweet. Oaky but not to the point that it's sucking the moisture out of your mouth. And it has the most unique bottle of anything in my bar.

It's good, like a classier version of the knob. Rich bourbon body with spice and char. Moderate finish

Sweet nose. Brown sugar and chocolate palate with carmel notes. Moderate warming finish. One of my favorite bourbons! Need them to start shipping to Michigan. Had to get it in Kentucky
