Proof66 Notes

Camus Ile de Re cognacs are named for the island off of the west coast of France, the furthermost west one can get and still have the cognac region designation. They believe that eau-de-vie from this region is dry "with a taste of the sea." The Ile de Re "Double Matured" cognac is aged in damp cellars on the island and then given a second aging process in charred oak deeper in the cognac region--giving rise to the "double matured" label. They say it has a balance between fruity and smoky flavor notes.
