This is EXTREMELY complex and flavorful mezcal that is nothing like the vida expression from Del Maguey. Has incredibly complex nose including smoky green agave, citrus, grape, vegetables and herbs, with same notes in the palate. Mezcal is not a thing for everyone, as it has extremely powerful and unique smell and taste that will put people off. Its something that you will eventually learn to appreciate, where you give Mezcal a time to love, then Mezcal will love you back by rewarding you with flavors that you'd never have imagined from anything you've ever experienced. A spirit that would be considered similar to Mezcal would be Islay Scotch, but IMHO they don't even come close to this in quality. Please do not try this if you're afraid of shocking yourself with something totally new that you never experienced in your life, as this will surely put you out to the max. For the adventurous people who wants to challenge their palate and perception in terms of complexity within spirits, Del Maguey Chichicapa is certain to please.

(5 out of 5). One of my favorite spirits in any category, and a staple that I use to judge mezcal (which is a very underrealized spirit). Has a nose that I would describe as a hurricane in a bottle- it's insanely complex, but, paradoxically, quite subtle and pleasant. Has a nose of agave, "green" smoke, something like fermented grapes, garden peas, herbs and spices, etc. All of this continues on the palate. I enjoy it neat with a bit of water. I can't imagine mixing this. This is a great spirit, and should be placed in the ranks of the finest bottles of single malt scotch. Also, the information on this is completely flawed- it's not aged at all (mezcal generally isn't), much less for 14 years. Also, 3,000 bottles or so are produced every year (still limited, but not as limited as the description would have you believe). It would be helpful to fix that description. Most of the time I've seen this it's been $69.99

An exciting, blustery kind of stormy day spirit. Sweet and grassy with a surpassingly smooth finish for such a high proof. This would be an amazing substitute in any cocktail calling for tequila but would need to be paired with a cigar in its own. Note: my sample was startlingly clear for something said to be 14 years old.
