Proof66 Notes

Montelobos mezcal (or "mountain of wolves") is the product of Oaxacan boyhood friends Don Abel Lopez (distiller) and Francisco Benjamin Lopez Toledo (artist). The agave is baked in traditional fire pits for 4-5 days, which developes the smokiness characteristic of mezcal (similar to the smoky peat reek of Islay of scotch). The baked agave is mashed with a traditional stone wheel and the juice fermented in pine vats and distilled.

Meh. Not impressed. Not one to sip on, but has a strong smokey flavor to make cocktails with.
