Proof66 Notes

First released in August of 2011, Rebecca Creek Fine Texas Whiskey is made from a "proprietary" batch of malted barley. It is made in batches in a traditional copper pot still and blended down with limestone-filtered water. Officially classified as a "spirit whiskey," we take this to mean that the whiskey has been blended with a neutral grain spirit (think vodka) that would tend to make a lighter-styled liquor. Originally, we had treated this type as a kind of moonshine  or blended whiskey but regulations have pinned "spirit whiskey" to a 5% blend of whiskey into vodka...

It's nice, easily drinkable. I concur with the previous comment likening it to a Speyside Scotch. I'm mainly a bourbon guy but I plan to keep some Rebecca Creek for my own.

The bottle says its a spirit whiskey which means it has been blended down with something like GNS.  Not bad tasting though.  They picked a good age of bourbon.

Light and sweet, this is a Texas whiskey for those who like Speyside Scotch. It's almost floral on the nose. I give it three instead of four stars for one reason only -- rumor has it that some of their whisky making has been outsourced in the early batches, so I don't know about consistency. But in summary, it says 'Texas whiskey', it's around thirty bucks, and it will sell like hotcakes.
