Calisaya liqueur is made with chinchona--a South American tree whose bark was historically used as a remedy for Malaria in Rome, according to the marketing website--along with flowers and other botanicals. They call it a bittersweet liqueur, appropriate straight or in espresso or even ice-cream. It is bottled in Oregon.

Truly inimitable taste--Ive made cocktails with it that my guests couldnt get enough of. They have some mixed drink suggestions on their website. A class act all the way. I wish it were available in California but Ill be buying more next time Im in Portland.
