Proof66 Notes

Pisco Porton Italia is made exclusively from the mosto verde Torontel wine grape, which means distilling a partially fermented grape juice called must. They claim 15 pounds of grapes go in every bottle. The spirit itself is distilled to 86 proof with no blending down (the practice of blending down from higher proof spirits being common across the spirit world of tequila, whiskey, vodka, and rum).

Faintly sweet Moonshine for Brandy drinkers is pretty much what this is, and its the first part of the nose that hits you - un-aged distillate. Drinking this neat is an acquired taste, I'm sure. Nevertheless, it makes a superior substitute to any Vodka and most white rums in any given cocktail.

You can actually smell a bouquet of grapes on the nose, which is very pleasant. Reminds me of a great wine, but better! Clean and very well done.
