Proof66 Notes

Owney's Rum is founded on the tradition of Owen "Owney" Madden, who is described as a denizen of Hell's Kitchen and rum smuggler to New York City throughout Prohibition. They use Grade A molasses for their base distillate (promising a non-GMO product), a carefully selected and proprietary yeast (presumably using the "sour mash" tradition of whiskey and sourdough bread alike), and New York City water. They use a traditional copper pot, batch production suggesting a slight ("artisanal") variation from batch to batch.
