Picked up a couple 50ml bottles to try. The first dip of my toe into the flavored vodka pool. Undrinkable straight. Cloying (and almost artificial) sweetness with bitter aftertaste. They claim they infuse the whole grapefruit (including the rind) to flavor the vodka, and you can tell. The aftertaste definitely reminded me of the oils from the rind. Mixed with sweet iced tea for a decent drink. Mixed with ginger ale was also passable, but the aftertaste is always present. This one is not for me.

I dislike most flavored vodkas, even the highest rated ones. My wife picked up a bottle of Deep Eddy Ruby Red because she is a grapefruit lover. When I first tasted it, I thought I was pouring a pre-mixed cocktail so I didn't sip it... I said, "Whoa! It packs a punch. Both in proof and flavor." Since then I've taken a shine to it. I like it best on the rocks, and I drink very few liquors on the rocks. Let the ice melt a bit it cuts down on the sweetness, and you have something that resembles a grapefruit Gimlet. Look closely and you'll see actual citrus oil floating on the top of the bottle. If you pour the first serving without shaking the bottle, then you'll be getting the entire bottle's proportion of grapefruit oils, which are very bitter. They mean it when they put "Shake Well" on the bottle. The only negative comment I have is that it is not as kind to you the next day. I was surprised by the degree of the hangover that only four drinks left me with the next morning. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for this. Overall, it's very drinkable on the rocks or in mixed drinks, and is affordable. Just be sure to shake before every pour, and drink in moderation if you are prone to hangovers.
