Proof66 Notes

Filibuster Rye whiskey is called "dual cask" because it undergoes an additional finishing of a few months in 225 liter (~60 gallon) French oak barrels following a more traditional aging in American White Oak. To our mind, the larger barrels give a slower, more gentle aging than the increasingly common process of staves, small barrels, or other accelerants. The French oak previously held wine and some of these flavors are said to infuse the whiskey (indeed, the federal Tax and Trade Bureau classifies this as a whiskey specialty rather than a regular bourbon).
