Proof66 Notes

Hayes Parker bourbon is made in South Carolina at the Terressentia Corporation (sometimes known as Terrepure Spirits), known for private label production of refined spirits. We have noted both an 80 proof and a 90 proof reported (we show 90 here) and guess it may have been re-labeled.

I've had worse. I've had much better, even from cheap stuff. "Aged at least 6 months": thought it had to be longer than that to be legally able to call a bourbon. I bought this as a cheap bourbon to put in a blind taste test. The nose is not complex at all, but almost has a rubbing alcohol undertone. Not a very remarkable nose. Taste: slight burn on the palate, but not much. Throat burn was very noticeable. Left a greasy feeling and greasy afterfeel. Again not a complex flavor, just "whisky-ish" with a very little heat. Almost reminds me more of a cheap scotch with very little peat or smoke. Mixed with a sweet soda like 7-up, its drinkable as a cheap mixed drink without complexity. Kinda like a bar gun whiskey. Overall I'd say pass on this for the price point.

My bottle was the 90 proof. I'd describe the nose as more sherry-like. VERY heavy cheap rye flavor that overpowers any subtlety. The alcohol burn is prominent. Finish is bland, watery. Simply not that enjoyable.

A decent if too sweet nose and first sip, heavy apricot flavor. After a minute in the air it tastes worse, and the addition of an ice cube opened the flavor up into a whole new level of undrinkable awfulness. There are many better options.

I grabbed a little 50 mL bottle at the register thinking "Why not, it's only $1.50". The aroma and flavor both remind me of cheap, Canadian, rye whiskey. The aroma has strong, alcoholic burn and a hint of piney rye. The flavor has the same blunt alcohol, but with a little artificial sweetener type sweetness and that very recognizable crappy Canadian like sourness. Going to dump the rest out of my glass and the rest of that bottle. Unless you're a college kid planning on dumping this into a punch bowl, steer clear folks.
