Proof66 Notes

Today, Johnnie Walker offers several different "labels" of scotch whisky, designated by color. The George V edition commemorates the king who first gave the Johnnie Walker himself the warrant to make scotch in 1934. It's packaged in a crystal and individually numbered decanter.

This whisky makes a strong argument for being my favorite blend. Price/value not withstanding, it would be difficult to choose between this and the Peat Monster. The King George is a much improved version of the regular Blue Label. Where the regular Blue is bordering on bland and completely lacks a finish, the King George is very flavorful with a pleasantly lingering finish. It has more smoke along with a heavy amount of oak and a little bit of char in the flavor profile. Those 3 components are in a great balance with each other. The finish hangs around so long that it never really goes away until you're done with your dram. No, it's not as "smooth" as the regular Blue, but that's a great thing in this case. I don't know if I could get myself to drop 6 hondos on a bottle, but I'm grateful I got to try a little. Cheers Dad.

I was lucky enough to obtain a bottle for $351.00 delivered to my house . It's in a nice bottle but I think Johnnie Walker Blue is alot smoother, the King George tastes like the Blue with a burn too it======gary (the unexpert) I  give it 3.5 stars for my disappointment  in it---you don"t have the money for either, buy a bollte of Cardhu 12 year an underated $46.00 bottle that taste very similiar to the George----

King George V Edition is named for the king who awarded Johnnie Walker a royal warrant to supply his household with Scotch. A gift that i will cherish, the min i opened the box my jaw dropped, packaged in a crystal decanter presented with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity, this edition is composed only of whiskies from distilleries that were operating during the reign of King George V Have had only 1 peg and every sip showed me a glimpse of heaven. The slightly darkish color the very light smell made it a unbelievable experience. The smoothness is a class apart. The cost is $550 which i think is a lot, but hey "You only live once"
