Proof66 Notes

The Famous Grouse was first blended by Matthew Gloag in 1896 named for the "iconic Scottish bird." After some success, he demed the term "Grouse Blend" too plain and he added the adjective "famous" in 1905. The label was acquired by Highland distillers in 1970.

The Naked Grouse was first developed and launched in 2011 and, according to a write-up followin the US premier at The Heavy Table, is meant to compete directly with Johnnie Walker Black.
