Got my hands on a bottle based on Tango's review and I believe I have found my new favorite Manhattan Rye! I paid $27 and I think that's an exceptional value for this spirit. Tango's tasting notes are spot on! I really pick up on the vanilla in the nose, taste, and finish and I think that's why I enjoy it so much. The only Ryes I've found I prefer over Redemption (as a straight sipper) are High West Rendezvous & Whistle Pig 10 and those are 2 & 3 times more expensive respectively. It's absolutely perfect in a 2:1 Manhattan with Cocchi Torino and Fee Bros Barrel Aged Bitters. And the bottle is very transparent stating this is an MGP - Indiana Distilled product, unlike other bottlers. Very impressed and pleased with my purchase!

Tango (2017-04-27):
I am glad you like it. Was it in slim bottle in photo or in new upscale bottle with a cork?

BDanner (2017-04-27):
Is the new upscale bottle with the cork the same juice?

KaiserSoze (2017-04-27):
My bottle is the new style with cork (not the one pictured here). As far as I know, it's still the same mash bill / same juice.

Tango (2017-04-27):
That is great. I will definitely buy it in the upgraded bottle. It is now 26 dollars in new bottle.

Redemption rye has a complex nose of rich oak, spice, pipe tobacco, spice ,vanilla , and caramel .The entry is spice, honey, clove, and cinnamon. The finish is sweet tea with honey with aftertaste of rye bread...It helps to let this whisky air for a few minutes. A very good rye whisky. An outstanding value . Only $20 dollars. It is my favorite bottom shelf rye whisky

I really enjoy Bulleit Rye, but plan to give this a try sometime based on your review. Unfortunately for me, Redemption runs closer to $30 in my area. Also, thanks for the heads up on the impending price increase on Booker's bourbon! Gonna have to go pick up a bottle before the first of the year now!

my favorite rye in the sub-$40 category . a step up from Dickel and Bulleit . nice heavy caramel-mint nose ...a bit of pleasant spice . was nice to sip with wee bit of distilled water and was nice to mix with sweet vermouth and/or cola/juices. (i tried many variations.) would love to try the aged versions.

Straightforward. Nice spice and nice heat -- if there's a drawback, it's that it was too simple and lacked some complexity. More of a mixer than a straight rye; it had some definite positive flavor profile. Wish I could give it three and a half stars.

A good rye, with good aroma. It is sweet and very smooth. A bit too sweet for me, but on occasion it suits my mood. The proof does not intrude, I think, since it is so sweetly smooth. Same source as some other ryes, which is not a problem for me. I don't make cocktails, etc. using just an ice cube or room temp straight.

Fantastic rye and a great value. On par with bottles more than twice the price. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Great buy! One of my favorites

Redemption Rye is quite smooth and a bit sweet on the palate with some spice notes (think Christmas spices like ginger or clove.) As a sipping whiskey, it is a little hot at 92 proof and benefits from a splash of water or a few cubes of ice. Its true potential is best realized as a mixing whiskey -- it makes a fine Manhattan.

This is a tasty, but very light rye whiskey. If you are just getting into rye whiskeys and dont want to jump into the heavy ryes, then this is a pretty good place to start.

This baby is 95% rye. Its a little young tasting but interesting none the less. It smells of rye bread. It is a good reference to taste what rye contributes to other whiskies.
