Proof66 Notes

Speyburn Arranta Casks Single Malt Scotch might lead some scrambling looking for some kind of "arranta" wine that is used to finish the scotch (cross reference port cask, sauterne casks, and so forth). In this case, "arranta" is said to be the Gaelic word for "intrepid and daring." The aging is done exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks meaning that this is the first time they've been used for scotch and presumably pick up more oak-driven character of vanilla and caramel. This is not exactly "daring" in the scotch world where most scotch is aged in ex-bourbon casks but perhaps made more so by the special hand-selection of the barrels performed by the distillery manager.
